California Prop 65

Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.


Conflict Minerals

“Conflict minerals,” as defined by the US legislation, currently include the metals tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, which are the extracts of the minerals cassiterite, columbite-tantalite and wolframite, respectively. Downstream companies often refer to the extracts of these minerals as 3TG.


REACH

REACH (EC 1907/2006) aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. This is done by the four processes of REACH, namely the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. REACH also aims to enhance innovation and competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry.


Toxic Substance Control Act

Under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), as amended by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, EPA evaluates potential risks from new and existing chemicals and acts to address any unreasonable risks chemicals may have on human health and the environment.


Country of Origin Certificate

A Country of Origin Certificate is a document widely used in international trade transactions which attests that the product listed therein has met certain criteria to be considered as originating in a particular country.


Buy American Act

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 establishes a “Buy American” requirement for federal, state and local government projects funded with ARRA stimulus money.
